Auntie Maureen's Recipe of the Week
Grocery Store 260g(10oz) self raising flour,225g(8oz) natural golden granulated sugar (unrefined) 1tsp powdered dry ginger,1tsp bicarbonate of soda,1tsp baking powder,1 medium egg,2 tbsp golden treacle,300ml(half pint) milk,225g(8oz)margarine. Tin 300mmx230mmx50mm Method Mix all dry ingredients together in mixing bowl, add margarine and treacle. Boil milk and pour over the ingredients, mix together to a smooth consistency, stir in beaten egg, pour into the tin that has been lined with greaseproof paper, then place into a pre-heated oven and bake for 1 hour at 150°c.300°f or gas Mk2. The tin should produce 12 portions if cut 3x4.
